Advantages
Automatic Vertical Tower Filters (AVTF) are best selected in the following situations.
When extremely dry cakes are required for
- Saving in energy as compared to a vacuum filter-dryer and other filtration systems.
- For reducing transport costs for trucking, rail or sea shipping of concentrates.
- Conforming to safety requirements for Transportable Moisture Limits.
Minimum wash liquid for saving water or reducing effluent to disposal.
Low solids content in the filtrate for reducing loss of product or to meet requirements for effluent disposal.
For plants with restricted floor area.
For future expansion of filtration area, AVTF machine has facility to add filtration chambers.
The horizontal chambers of AVTF minimize segregation of fast settling solids and form even cakes.
Efficient cake washing since the wash liquid spreads evenly over the surface of flat lying cake in the chamber.
AVTF machine discharge de- lumped cakes so the impact on the downstream conveyor that transports the cake is low whereas on other hand, Filter presses discharge the cake in one heavy lump that may weigh 150 Kg. So special precautions must be taken to protect the conveyor system.
Since the operation of Automatic Vertical Tower Filters is semi continuous the cake conveying facilities may be smaller as compared to filter presses that discharge in batches.
Disadvantages
- Requires high headroom considering that with very large machines it may reach 5 meters.
- AVTF machines relatively are expensive as for capital investment however its cost must be compared on operating cost to a vacuum filter installation followed by thermal drying facilities.

It is carried out at our R&D lab for preliminary screening of the slurry/suspension mixture to ascertain its filterability.
Pilot Scale Testing
It is carried out at the client’s production site to simulate the actual process with reliable test results that can be used for filter sizing.
Demonstration Scale Testing
It is carried out at the client’s production site with our AVTF020.1 model to the client’s filtration process to resemble commercial scale operations.
Detailed Design
It involves completing the product's design for commercial production as per the client's process requirements.
Machine Supply
It involves supply, erection, and commissioning of AVTF™ commercial machine at the client's production site.
Machine Validation
It involves validating the machine at the client's production site as per the process guarantee assured by AEPL.
RUBBER DIAPHRAGM
ABHIGYAN has expanded its in house manufacturing capacity on a big scale and have installed very big sized moulding press of 2000 MT capacity with new advanced technology which will produce high pressure cured rubber diaphragms having wear and abrasion resistant, superior elongation properties and improved life suitable for the Automatic Vertical Tower Filter / Pressure Filter Machine & Horizontal Filter Presses, at very reasonable rates.
All diaphragms are moulded out of a premium blend mixture of Natural and Butadiene rubber compounds, specially formulated to withstand high pressure and wear resistance with excellent flex properties for different applications including high temperature.
Diaphragms are also available in EPDM and Butyl polymers, Nitrile rubber, Neoprene rubber, PVC Nitrile, & Natural rubber.
